Rudra's Fierce Nature
Rudra is the fierce form of Shiva. He is the destroyer and transformer.
When Daksha organized a yagna and did not invite Shiva, Sati (Daksha's daughter and Shiva's wife) attended the yagna uninvited.
Daksha insulted Shiva in front of everyone. Unable to bear the insult to her husband, Sati immolated herself in the sacrificial fire.
When Shiva learned of Sati's death, he was overcome with grief and rage. He manifested as Rudra, the fierce destroyer.
Rudra created Virabhadra and Bhadrakali, who destroyed Daksha's yagna and beheaded Daksha.
Later, when the gods pleaded, Shiva restored Daksha to life with a goat's head, showing his compassionate nature alongside his fierce aspect.
